A Word from the Executive President

For a long time, we talked about fraternity, ignoring sisterhood. The world continues to be dehumanized because women have been sidelined. But now is the time. It is time to fight for our rights, the rights of the most vulnerable: women and children! The law gives us everything on a platter, and it is up to us to act. The creation of the CSW almost 70 years ago, the Mexico Conference in 1975, the Copenhagen Conference in 1980, the African Women's Decade 1975-1985, the evaluation of the Women's Decade in 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya, the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1993, the Beijing Conference in 1995 with its 12 critical areas, Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security and the Millennium Development Goals in 2000, the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, the six themes of the Action Coalition in 2020 and the Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action agenda, are all meetings, discussions, resolutions and recommendations that give women around the world in general, African and Cameroonian women in particular, the opportunity to stand up as one woman and join the train that leads us towards equality. No one should be left behind. Regardless of the violence against women and girls, gender-based violence, femicide, and all the ills we are victims of, let us rise up and act because the time has come. Let us not forget, we do not want to cause harm, but against all odds, let us raise our flag, let us move forward with other women. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Violence against Women and the Maputo Protocol are with us! We are all concerned. Let us come together to fight against inequalities in all their forms, discrimination and stigmatization of which women and children are victims, the patriarchal system, gynecological and obstetric violence, gender-based violence in all its forms, sexual violence and rape in our different living environments, incest in our families, and finally, let us say together STOP to femicides, human trafficking, hate speech, online violence, and I'm forgetting some!!! Even though no country in the world has yet achieved gender equality, we have an obligation to put our feet up, because no one, I repeat, no one, will defend our rights better than us. Every woman, every child, is called upon to contribute to the construction of this edifice. And you, what have you done for your sister? For an active sisterhood, LET US STAND UP; it's time.
